Terms of Use

1. Nature of the service
HailNearMe.com ("HailNearMe," "we," "us") provides access to publicly available hail detection data sourced from the NOAA Severe Weather Data Inventory (SWDI), a federal database maintained by NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information. We retrieve, format, and present this data as a convenience service. We do not generate, modify, or independently verify the underlying radar data.
2. No professional assessment
HailNearMe is not a licensed roofing inspector, structural engineer, insurance adjuster, meteorologist, or legal advisor. Nothing on this website or in any report we generate constitutes a professional engineering assessment, property inspection, insurance opinion, or legal advice.
A radar detection at or near your address indicates that NOAA's NEXRAD system recorded a qualifying hail signature in that geographic area. It does not confirm that:
- Hail physically struck your specific property
- Your property sustained damage
- You have a valid insurance claim
- Your insurance carrier will accept or pay the claim
3. NOAA Radar Evidence Reports
Paid reports ("NOAA Radar Evidence Reports") are records of NOAA SWDI data, formatted for insurance claim submission. By purchasing a report, you acknowledge:
- The report documents what NOAA's database records as of the report generation date. It does not constitute a professional certification.
- We do not guarantee that any insurance carrier will accept, act on, or be influenced by the report.
- Reports are non-refundable once generated. Because the data retrieval and PDF generation occur immediately upon payment, we cannot reverse this process.
- Report reference numbers (e.g., HNM-XXXXXXXXXX) are for your internal tracking only. They are not official NOAA document identifiers.
4. Data accuracy and liability
NOAA radar data carries inherent uncertainty. Radar resolution is approximately 1 km; hail size estimates (via MESH algorithm) carry uncertainty of approximately ±0.5 inches. Detections may miss very localized or low-altitude hail events. Beam overshooting at close range may produce false negatives for nearby storms.
HailNearMe provides this service "as is." We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this service or reliance on data contained in our reports.
5. Spotter reports
Community spotter reports submitted through HailNearMe are user-generated content. By submitting a spotter report, you affirm that:
- The photo was taken by you at the reported location at approximately the reported time
- The hail size estimate is your best approximation, not a calibrated measurement
- You grant HailNearMe a license to display the photo as part of storm records
We reserve the right to remove, reject, or modify spotter submissions that appear fraudulent, duplicative, or unrelated to the reported event.
6. Inspection referrals
If you submit an inspection request through HailNearMe, you consent to us sharing your email address and address with licensed roofing contractors in our network for the sole purpose of scheduling an inspection estimate. We do not sell your information to third-party marketers.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Any dispute arising from use of HailNearMe shall be resolved in a court of competent jurisdiction in Texas.
8. Changes
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the terms were most recently changed.
